Jim’s Bowls Notes to Saturday 10th August

Wednesday 7th August

Another wonderful Winter’s sunny afternoon with Blue skies for  members and their Bowling at The Greens on William, where 15 Club members and our regular visitor from the Majellan Club, Allan Clark  formed One game of Social Pairs and 2 games of Social Triples.

Game No.1:

By scoring 4 shots on the 5th end, Skip. Daniel Prasad and Paul Rodenhuis levelled the scores at 7 shots all with Skip. Robert and Leroy Bourke. Then Robert and Leroy  scored 2 shots to draw level with Daniel and Paul, the score being 9 shots all after the 7th end.  The Father and Son combination of Robert and Leroy scored 10 shots to 7 shots, to lead 19 shots to 16 shots after  the 16th end. Daniel and Paul by scoring  3 shots  drew level at 19 shots all after the 17th end.  Robert and Leroy scored 3 shots to lead 22 shots to 19 shots after the 18th end, but Daniel and Paul finished the best scoring 4 shots to be successful 23 shots to 22 shots over Robert and Leroy after the 21st end. In what was an outstanding game of Lawn Bowls at the City. Daniel and Paul won 11 ends to 10 ends.

Game No.2:

After the 5th end, Skip. Kathy Evans, Phillip Murray and Robert Foster were leading 7 shots to 3 shots against Skip. Denis Oxley, Danial Sealy and John Martin, who were then down 5 shots to 11 shots after the 10th end. Team Oxley then won the next 4 consecutive ends to be just down 10 shots to 11 shots by Team Evans, who then scored 4 shots to 3 shots to win another great game by 15 shots to 13 shots over Team Oxley, after the 21st end.

Team Oxley won the end by 12  ends to 9 ends. (11 single shots and One x 2 shots.) to ( 6 single shots and a 2,3,4, shots )

Game No.3:

On the 7th end,  Skip. Norm. Hayes, Luke Dobbie and Robert Keady led 8 shots to 7 shots over Skip. Allan Clark, Paul Reece and Scott Bennett, who then won the next 7 consecutive ends scoring 17 shots to lead 24 shots to 8 shots against Team Hayes after the 14th end. Both teams each scored 4 shots with Team Clark leading 28 shots to 12 shots after the 20th end over Team Hayes, who scored 3 on the 21st end, but ,Team Clark easily won this game against Team Hayes, 28 shots to 15 shots. Team Clark won the ends 13 ends to 8 ends

Red Rooster Prize.

Once Again a big thank you to our local Red Rooster Chicken Take – away   for their donation of a Cooked Chicken for our Wednesday afternoon Bowls competition. Our lucky winner for this week was a very grateful Kathy Evans.

Saturday, 10th August, 2024.

Well what a pleasant surprise when our winter weather had a touch of Spring in it today at The Greens on William with Blue Skies and Bright Sunshine for our 22 Club Bowlers to play their Lawns Bowls at the City, where 4 Games of Social Pairs and One game of Social Triples were set down to be played by the Matchroom selectors.

Game No.1:

On the 5th end, Skip. Ian Shaw and Michael Hope scored One shots to draw level with Skip.Luke Dobbie and Margaret Miller at 3 shots all. Then on the 10th end, Ian and Michael again drew level this time at 6 shots all with Luke and Margaret, who won then won the next 6 consecutive ends to lead 13 shots to 6 shots over Ian and Michael, who finished the best scoring 5 shots to One shot, but still went down to Luke and Margaret  11 shots to 15 shots after the 21st end, in a low scoring game as there were 18 Single shots and 4 x 2 Shots Totaling 26 shots.

Game No.2:

By scoring One shot on the 8th end, Skip. Garry Hotham and Paul Reece levelled the scores at 8 shots all with Skip. John Archer and Jack Smith, who then took control of this game by scoring 14 shots to 4 shots to lead 22 shots to 12 shots and  by winning the last 5 consecutive ends scoring 8 shots to easily defeat Garry and Paul by 30 shots to 12 shots after the 21st end. Game  No.3:

A great 6 shots scored on the 5th end by Skip. Chris.Stafford and John McDonagh had them just leading 7 shots to 5 shots against Skip. Neville Townsend and Phillip Murray. Both teams each scored 7 shots with Chris and John then leading 14 shots to 12 shots after the 13th end, they then scored 8 shots to lead 22 shots to 12 shots after the 17th end over Neville and Phillip, who won the final 4 ends scoring 6 shots, but they just went down to Chris.and John who won 22 shots to 18 shots after the 21st end in an interesting game of Lawn Bowls.

Game No.4:

After several months of ” Private Tuition ” from his Little Brother, Ken. Our great Lead Bowler of Yesteryears, John Fulton teamed with Skip. Ian Schofield and they were  leading 8 shots to 3 shots over Skip. Denis Oxley and Paul Rodenhuis after the 6th end. Ian and John then led 14 shots to 9  shots after the 14th end over Denis and Paul.  By taking control of the game, Ian and John by winning 6 of the remaining 7 ends comfortably won this game 22 shots to 10 shots over Denis And Paul, after the 21st end.

Game No.5:

Beginning very well, Skip.Norm. Hayes, Ken Fulton and Robert Keady were leading 5 shots to Nil after the 3rd end against Skip. Kevin Miller, Jim Grives and Grant Brunton, who won the next 5 consecutive ends scoring 8 shots to lead 8 shots to 5 shots after the 8th end. Team Hayes by scoring 3 shots levelled the scores at 8 shots all after the 11the end. Team Miller by scoring 8 shots led 16 shots to 8 shots after the 14th end. Then by scoring 10 shots to 4 shots, they were successful winning 26 shots to 17 shots over Team Hayes after the 21st end.

  The Annual General Meeting of the Bathurst City Bowling Club Inc will be held on Saturday, 14th September, 2024 commencing at 11.00am. 

All Financial Bowlers, who wish to nominate must have their nominations completed and returned to the Returning Officer at least 21 days prior to the Elections, Saturday 24th August.
