Jim’s Bowls Notes to Saturday 13th July

 

Wednesday 10th July 2024

On another very cold winter’s afternoon only 9 City Bowlers and our regular Bowler from the Majellan Club, Peter Drew formed One game of Social Pairs and One game of Social Triples at The Greens on William.

Game No.1:

Well, this game was a Magnificent victory for Skip. Kathy Evans and Ian Cunningham, when they both played 1st Class Bowls against the inform Bowlers of Skip. Robert Bourke and Bruce Rich, the final score being 23 shots to 7 shots after 18 ends.  Kathy seems to have regained her great bowling skills of ” Yesterday ” when she was the Western Districts Champion Lady Bowler and Ian has always been a Great Lead for his various Skips. In this game, Kathy and Ian played a game of 3 sections, winning 4 consecutive ends, then 6 consecutive ends and finally 2 consecutive ends, scoring 23 shots.Whereas, Robert and Bruce won 5  one shot ends and One 2 shot end, scoring 7 shots. Will a rematch may be requested in the near future?

Game No.2:

By winning 13 ends to 8 ends, Skip. Peter Drew, John McDonagh and Daniel Sealy were leading 6 shorts to 3 shots after the 7th end against Skip. Denis Oxley, Jack Smith and Flynn Armstrong, who fought back scoring 9 shots to 6 shots, but were just down 11 shots to 12 shots after the 14th end. Then by finishing the best, Team Drew scored 14 shots to 2 shots to have a great victory, 26 shots to 13 shots over Team Oxley after 21 ends.

Saturday, 13th July, 2024.

Once again at The Greens on William the winter’s afternoon for playing Lawn bowls was quite good as there was only a slight cold breeze on a few occasions.

Only 10 Bowling Club Members nominated and with our most welcome Majellan Bowler, Merle Stephens, One game of Social Triples and the other game had Flynn Armstrong playing as ” The Swinger.”

ame No.1:

By scoring One shot of the 7th end, Skip.Denis Oxley, Jack Smith and Flynn Armstrong levelled the scores at 8 shots all with Skip. Ian Schofield, Paul Rodenhuis and Flynn Armstrong. Team Oxley scored 6 shots to 2 shots to lead 14 shots to 10 shots after the 14th end.    Then by scoring another 8 shots to 2 shots,Team Oxley easily won this game  by 22 shots to 12 shots over Team Schofield, after the 21st end.

Game No.2:

After the 7th end, Skip. Norm. Hayes, Jim Grives and Merle Stephens led 10 shots to 4 shots over Skip. Chris. Stafford, Phillip Murray and Grant Bruntion, who scored 6 shots to 7 shots, but were down 10 shots to 17 shots  after the 14th end by Team Hayes, who then scored 7 shots to 6 shots to be victorious 24 shots to 16 shots over Team Stafford, after the 21st end. In this game there were many great bowling    results scored by both Teams.

 A big thank you to our Popular past Treasurer and our newest Life Member, Neville Townsend, who was in the Matchroom and for forming the games for this afternoon at the City.
