Jim’s Bowls Notes 11th May 2024

 

Due to the inclement weather on Saturday morning there were only the No.5 Pennants games played at the Greens on William, as the Social Bowls were cancelled due to the wet weather.

Bathurst City No. 5 Pennants teams played the Molong Bowling Club’s No.5 Pennant Teams.

Game No.1:

By beginning very well, Bathurst City, Skip. Ray Fitzalan, John Archer, Kevin Miller and James Nau were leading 9  shots to 4 shots after the 6th end against the Molong team, Skip. G.Seton, N. Subberfield, D.Hood and F.Miller, who then scored 2 shots on the 11th end to draw level at 11 shots all.  Bathurst City after the 16th end led 20 shots to 13 shots over Molong. Both teams each scored 5 shots with Bathurst City winning 25 shots to18 shots.

Game No.2:

Also beginning very well and after the 6th end, Bathurst City Skip. Garry Hotham, Neville Townsend, Chris. Stafford and Anthony Morrissey were leading 12 shots to 3 shots over the Molong’s team, Skip. K.Beath, S.Shannon, S.Fessey and A.Goodacre, who were down 8 shots to 18 shots after the 11th end. Then Molong’s team took control of the game by scoring 10 shots to 2 shots to be just down 18 shots to 20 shots after the 20th end. But by scoring One shot  on the 21st end, Bathurst City finally defeated Molong by 21 shots to 18 shots.

Game No.3:

In this game Molong’ team, Skip. C.Troth, B.Beath, Blandford and L.Neil began very strong as they were leading 11 shots to 4 shots after the 11th end, over Bathurst City Skip. Robert Bourke, Kathy Evans, Paul Reece and Denis Oxley, who fought back by scoring 8 shots to level the scores at 12 shots all after the 16th end. Then by scoring 5 shots to 4 Shots Bathurst City won a great game 17 shots to 15 shots over Molong.

Bathurst City won the Big Board by 63 shots to 51 shots.  Bathurst City scored  10 points .

Congratulations to both Bowling Clubs on their great Sportsmanship and Friendship whilst playing in difficult weather conditions on Saturday. It was certaining great seeing the opposing teams applauding each other’s great bowling skills throughout their 3 matches on Saturday.

 Congratulations to our No. 5 Pennants teams on winning the Zone 4,  Section 5.Competition for 2024 and  Best wishes to our 3 teams this weekend at Nyngan, where they play on Saturday and Sunday. The winner of these ” Play offs” will advance to the State finals.

Weather permitting there will be Bowling at the Greens on William next Saturday, 13th May, 2024.
